Now you have seen what makes up the Standard Model as shown on the chart. It is the most complete explanation of the fundamental particles and interactions at this time. To summarize, physicists believe they can explain all observed types of matter with six types of quarks and six types of leptons. They understand all observed forces with four fundamental forces, each of which has associated carrier particles.
The Standard Model also includes the quantum theories of strong interactions (Quantum chromodynamics, or QCD), and of the unified electroweak interactions (weak and electromagnetic, QED). It is not yet known how to make a quantum theory of gravitation.
You are seeing only the conceptual results of this very mathematical theory, but you should realize that it is based on experimental evidence.
