Michael Gindonis, Olli Tourunen et al.
Physics Building's east Wing Room Ø245
09:00 - 16:00

Purpose

The intent of this tutorial is to introduce basic concepts of grid computing and give the audience the skills needed to submit calculations using NorduGrid ARC grid middleware. The tutorial will consist of an introductory lecture, demos and hands-on exercises.

Topics

Prerequisites

In order to fully appreciate this tutorial a basic knowledge of scientific computing, batch queue systems and Unix/Linux environment is required.

Participants are encouraged to also bring their own applications to the tutorial and try to run them on the grid. Statically linked executables compiled for the Linux x86 platform which don't require any software to be installed beforehand in the target cluster are the easiest.
