Oslo, May 21 - 24, 2007
Travel and practical information
Travel and practical information:
The currency in Norway is Norwegian Crowns (NOK and not EURO).
You can use your credit card everywhere for payments and for cash withdrawal.
The airport for Oslo is called Oslo Airport Gardermoen
(you should not choose Torp Airport since this one is located very far away).
When you arrive at the airport and leave the custom area, take right and walk down
the hall until you reach the Flytoget (The Airport Express Train). This train takes you to
Oslo Central Station within 25 minutes and costs NOK 160.
The workshop will take place at the Department of Physics, University of Oslo, Blindern.
The sessions will be held in room FV232, Lille Fysiske Auditorium in the Physics building
(the second floor of the west wing). Signs will be put up from the entrance hall of the building.
There are two ways to get to Blindern from either
Thon Hotel Slottsparken
or Cochs Pensjonat:
Either walk or take the tram up Bogstadveien to Majorstuen.
From there, go across the big road intersection and continue in
the same direction until you see a football field on your right. You
will then also see the Physics Building on the top of a hill behind the
football field. Walk past the field and follow the roads up the hill. This
takes about 30 minutes if you walk and 20 minutes if you take the tram.
Or you can walk down to Nationaltheateret Subway Station in the city
center, which takes about 10 minutes. From there take the westbound
subway, either line 3 (Sognsvann), 4 (Ringen) or 5 (Storo).
Get off at Blindern station. Go up the hill on the right-hand side of the
subway (the stop is outdoors), and you will find the University Campus
at the end of the road. The whole journey takes about 30 minutes.
