Once upon a time there was me and music (and now more than ever)...
During the fall of 1994 I became friend with some people interested in audio. Through this friendship I realized how a good pair of speakers can procure the spirit and soul in various types of music to the listeners. In a kind of intoxication (if you can say that music is a drug, I have to admit that I have become addicted) I decided to build a pair of speakers. But what kind of speakers should I go for? After listening to many kinds of speakers (mainly dynamic speakers with 2 or 3 drivers), I decided to go for a two way speaker on a floor stand. Why, you may ask? There are many reasons, but one of the main reasons is that this speaker suits my kind of music best, intimate music with few (acoustic) instruments and more general pop music like U2. I wanted a speaker with a good stereo picture, both sideways and in depth. I like movie music too, so the speakers have to be dynamic and capable of delivering punch in the lower frequencies (that's why I chose to build a bass reflex enclosure). I also wanted to build a speaker which has a nice finish, a speaker everyone would like to have in their house. I have named the speaker Spring after the season. With this name I was thinking on a kind of evolution, something new, something growing, something coming, maybe a feeling like a valve inside you have opened and you can't explain why and what you feel. |
