Residual Strong Interaction
Protons and neutrons, like all hadrons, are color-neutral objects; but
they are made of quarks, so they experience residual effects of the
strong interactions.
These are similar to the residual effects of the electromagnetic
interaction that binds electrically neutral atoms to form molecules.
